Armenian way of celebration and Armenian businesses during the holidays
Monday, November 30, -1Holidays are coming and everyone is getting ready. Different nations have different traditions and different ways of celebrating holidays. Christmas and New Year are the two biggest holidays in the United States. Yet Christmas is the holiday Americans celebrate bigger than other holidays.
It is frequently asked as to why Armenians do not celebrate Christmas on December 25th with the rest of the world. Historically, all Christian churches celebrated Christ's birth on January 6th until the fourth century. According to Roman Catholic sources, the date was changed from January 6th to December 25th in order to override a pagan feast dedicated to the birth of the Sun which was celebrated on December 25th. But remaining faithful to the traditions of their forefathers, Armenians have continued to celebrate Christmas on January 6th until today.
However, for Armenians, New Year is celebrated in a more festive way, the preparations for the New Year are very important to Armenian people. And one of the main preparations for the New Year’s Eve for Armenians is food.
Armenians are one of the main business owners in California. They have all types of businesses, the food business being one of the most profitable. Armenian food stores and restaurants have the best and most delicious food one could taste. Lately, Armenian food has been appreciated not only by Armenians but also by other nations. The clients of Armenian restaurants are people of different nationalities and preferences.
It is good to know that our people always choose to buy food from Armenian stores and restaurants which mean they also help their fellow Armenians to have profit. Us, Armenians, must always stick together and support each other to keep our community strong and alive.
